The Mighty Fine Wake Band manages to keep a foot on both sides of the Atlantic, without falling into the seas between. While tradition drives their repertoire, they clearly feel no need to be bound by it, choosing instead to mix and match elements from Appalachian, Celtic, and Roots music. The result is a soaring blend of heartfelt melodies and driving rhythms that transcend the original ingredients.
Old-Time, finger-picked style guitar blends with delicate mandolin and folk harp, bluesy harmonica strains, and uptempo bass lines to give new life to old favorites. Their signature lush four-part harmonies, like icing on an already rich chocolate cake, make sitting down to one of their concerts an almost guilty pleasure.
The quartet consists of Jimmi Langemo on guitar, dobro, mandolin and harmonica, Coyote James on guitar and harmonica, Bruce Bell-Myers on bass, guitar, whistles and bodhran, and Darcy Bell-Myers on guitar, harp and whistles.
